Orange Days

The Orange Days are in the period from 25.11. (Day of Violence against Women) until 10.12. (Day of human rights).

Around one in three women has been the victim of physical or sexual violence. Every day there is an attempted assassination, every hour a woman is the victim of a dangerous physical injury in Germany.

The hand signal was created by the Canadian foundation “Canadian Women’s Foundation”.

If someone makes this very special hand sign, it means: “Help, I’m experiencing violence!”,

How do I react correctly?
Act carefully so as not to further endanger the person.
Specifically, that means

• DO NOT call the police immediately unless the person is in imminent danger
• If possible, ask short YES/NO questions (example: “Should I dial the emergency number?”)
• Stay in contact via Email, WhatsApp, …
