Bonjour et bienvenue

At the AVS you can currently choose French as a 2nd foreign language from 7th grade and as a 3rd foreign language as an elective subject from 9th grade. In the following, we, the French faculty, briefly introduce our subject. Also in a short video.

The destinations of modern foreign language teaching are defined by the new subject requirements (2015). According to this framework, we organize our French lessons at the AVS and want to enable you to act in a competence-oriented way, which means that you have the knowledge and the ability to get along in different communication situations in a francophone country or with francophone speakers.
In addition you will find the subject areas and contexts of French at the AVS in our subjects curriculum.

If you have any questions, please do not hesistate to contact Angelique Knuth.

A bientôt!

French or Latin?

French is the language of our most important partners in politics and trade. The volume of Franco-German trade is greater than that between Germany and the USA. France and Germany are represented in the partner country through thousands of large and medium-sized companies. French therefore improves career opportunities. Research confirms: English enjoys the highest demand in the world of work, followed by French, in third place Spanish, then Italian.

France has influenced Germany in the most intimate way for centuries. French has thus become an important part of German culture itself. France continues to be a country of wide cultural appeal. For this reason, it is important to us to bring French culture and way of life closer to you. This includes French music, of course, and comics, for example. But cinéma français and cuisine française also play an important role here.
